Many families near Klamath Falls are looking for an easy-to-afford SUV. They need the space an SUV can provide for growing kids, but they're hoping to keep payments as low as possible month-to-month because, well... growing kids.

When you find a cheap vehicle for sale, do a little research first. Sometimes cars are inexpensive because they're poor quality, and not very safe. You might save on the initial price, but it could cost you more later on in repairs, and insurance premiums.

When an insurance company sees that a vehicle breaks down or crashes a lot, they hike up the premiums so they don't lose money when they have to pay out on a claim. Insure.com ranks over 2,800 new vehicles by their average insurance premiums every year, and publishes a Top 10 Least Expensive and Top 10 Most Expensive to insure list.

This year, the 2017 Jeep Renegade Sport took second place for least expensive to insure, making this subcompact SUV affordable and practical. The 2017 Jeep Wrangler Black Bear followed it as the third-least expensive model. The entry-level trims of the Jeep Cherokee, Compass, and Patriot all made the Top 10 as well, setting a new Insure.com record!

Keep in mind that higher trim levels with more bells and whistles will cause premiums to rise, and your exact auto insurance rates will be based on many factors, from your age and driving history, to where you live. Nevertheless, a new Jeep SUV is a great starting point to keeping your insurance rates low.
